By investing to extend a new industrial site, campus and R&D center, Interscience wishes to consolidate its ambition of being a world center of excellence for microbiological analysis

said Emmanuel Jalenques, co-director with his brother Jules Jalenques of Interscience and Interlab.

The family company, founded in 1979, currently employs 150 people, including 80 at its historic site in Puycapel, France, where the company has its roots.

This project will also create around fifty additional jobs in the Cantal region as well as in its subsidiaries in the USA, China, Singapore, Japan and Germany.

Supported by the BPI, French Public Bank and the French Government Recovery Plan, this new investment is estimated at a total of around $10M. It will enable the extension of the factory, the expansion of the R&D center and the creation of an industrial campus: construction of several buildings with a total additional surface area of 3,000 sqm.

ScanStation - Real-time incubator and colony counter

This expansion will quadruple the production capacity dedicated to the production of ScanStation - a real-time colony detection, counting and incubation station.

Carte mondiale ScanStation

Since the launch of ScanStation in 2017, the company has equipped more than 100 sites with one of the three available versions spread across 23 countries worldwide.

Jules Jalenques

There is indeed a strong demand, especially from pharmaceutical groups, which have either expansion projects or new manufacturing sites. These investments project them into the future through strategic choices such as ScanStation. This automated system performs microbiological analyses in real time 24/7 and meets this demand for performance, digitalisation and quality. This is why ScanStation sales are doubling every year. The new production buildings will allow us to grow flexibly.

explains Jules Jalenques.

Extension usine INTERLAB

By creating a campus-like site with increased working space, the improved working conditions will make the site more attractive, especially for young recruits.

Attention will be paid to the ecological footprint of the project, as well as its integration into the local environment: solar panels, ecological wooden buildings and landscaped areas.

Extension usine INTERLAB

The Communauté de Communes de la Châtaigneraie Cantalienne, chaired by Michel Teyssedou, is carrying out the project in the form of a workshop-relais, together with the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region, the Cantal Department and the Prefecture.

This project is also supported and accompanied by the French government Recovery Plan.
